Launched in 2000, the Smile Alabama!
Initiative has made it possible for thousands of
Alabama children to access vitally needed dental
care. Thanks to grant funding from the 21st
Century Challenge Fund of the Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation, the federal government and
state-level partners, children on Alabama
Medicaid today have access to a larger pool of
participating dental providers while dental and
other health care providers continue to benefit
from a wide variety of free patient education
materials and professional support from Agency
staff.
